The Twilight Zone

Every town has a local celebrity; Binghamton’s local celebrity is Rod Serling.  Rod Serling created the classic series The Twilight Zone, which featured thought-provoking allegories and twisted tales.  As a tribute to Serling, there is a star in Binghamton’s own Walk of Fame in his honor.

Where is the Rod Serling star located?

 Carousels

Binghamton has been called the “Carousel Capital of the United States” because of the 6 functioning regional carousels commissioned by George F. Johnson between 1920 and 1934.  The price of admission was a piece of trash picked up from the park in order to keep the park clean.

Which Binghamton parks have carousels?

According to local history buffs, “which way EJ?” was the question that many arriving immigrants, many of whom were from Southern and Eastern Europe, asked upon arrival at Ellis Island.  EJ, or Endicott-Johnson, was one of the area’s largest employers; at its peak, approximately 20,000 persons were employed by EJ in the early 1920s.
What product was manufactured at the EJ factories?

Our City's Namesake

Revolutionary patriot, financier and merchant William  __________ (1754-1802) held the land patent that comprises much of present-day Binghamton.
